Marsascala 10
Marsaxlokk 8
(5-2, 3-2, 2-2, 0-2)
A tactical well-disposed Marsascala outfit ran out winners over neighbours Marsaxlokk to clinch the Division Two KO honours yesterday.
Their victory resulted from superior shooting ability and a better man-up scoring rate plus smarter use of the possession period.
Marsascala's base came from an encouraging 5-2 kick-start in the first session.
Thereafter, Ian Azzopardi's Marsaxlokk fought manly but were generally kept at an arm's length before finally succumbing to a closer defeat than they had earlier expected.
At the end of the match at the National Pool, Marsascala were presented with their prize amid the jubilation of their coach Anthony Farrugia and his group of players and supporters.
The KO title makes up for the upset in the league this summer where Marsascala finished runners-up to league champions Exiles Jet Services. These two teams clashed in the semi-finals last week but this time it was Farrugia's boys who emerged on top.
