Marsa chalked up their first victory of the Winter League this season after beating Krishna last weekend.

Krishna won the toss and elected to bowl first as Ronnie Sacco and David Borg opened the batting for Marsa.

Borg was first to go, being caught and bowled by Khosla, after making six runs. Sacco found it hard to add runs and tried to force the play by dancing down the wicket to hit the ball over the fence.

Unluckily for him, the ball did not bounce as expected and he was bowled, giving Kevin Krishna his first wicket. Sacco had scored 11 runs.

Krishna was also involved in the next wicket, that of Javed Shah (no runs). He took a catch at backward point off the bowling of Adam Krishna.

Mike Caruana and Chris Naudi both batted well, retiring and getting back to the crease. The former was 31 not out while Naudi's was the last wicket to fall.

He had 24 runs from 25 balls. John Farrugia added six, Sarfraz Ali two and Darren Grech seven as Marsa totalled 101 runs.

Marsa were fully focused on winning this one. For them, Borg and Sacco provided an excellent opening spell of 12 overs that only conceded 29 runs. In the process, Sacco felled three wickets and Borg one.

Nowell Khosla and Sam Aquilina had opened for Krishna.

Khosla was first to go being caught (11 runs) and Aquilina only managed seven. Faraaz Bhatti made one run before being bowled as Derek Ali found it hard to make runs and was out on the 24th ball for five runs.

John Grima retired making 19 runs, Robert Krishna had 16, Adam Krishna five and Kevin Krishna (no runs) remained not out. Krishna only managed 73 runs, giving Marsa their first victory and seven points. Krishna earned two points.

On Saturday, Marsa take on Melita Betfair at 10 a.m.
