On Saturday, the MCA Winter League came to an end with the Marsa team putting in their best performance yet. Their victims were Krishna.

The Marsa team batted first. They had a slow start, losing Ronnie Sacco for a duck and Tony Azzopardi being bowled by a brilliant ball after he had scored 10 runs.

Frank Spiteri had his best innings of the league and scored 48 runs from 30 balls including five fours and two sixes. Sarfraz Ali prodded along and scored 17 runs from 29 balls.

Derek Ali produced one of his vintage innings and scored 35 runs from 26 balls, including three fours and two sixes. Robert Krishna remained five runs not out and Javed Shah made 14. For Krishna, Andy Lenard was top wicket taker with two while Adam Krishna and Darren Grech took a wicket each.

In reply, Krishna literally fell apart with only Justin Thorne making it over double figures with 16 runs and next high score was from Joy Ghoseroy who scored nine.

The team had the lowest score of the league – 42 runs. Three run-outs did not help their cause. Ali was the main wicket taker with three, Robert Krishna two wickets, Gordon Hewitt and Pierre Naudi took a wicket each.

The win capped a good winter for Marsa who only lost one game under the guidance of their captain Ronnie Sacco.

Standings: Marsa 46 points; Krishna, Melita Betfair 20.
