Last week, Marsa played against returning touring team Sydenhurst Ramblers in a three-game series.

The first was on Wednesday where the Marsa team won the toss and elected to field first.

Sydenhurst were bowled out for 152 runs , three balls short of their allotted 40 overs. D. Simcock top scored with 40 runs. G. Boxall scored 28 runs and A. Foster 20 not out. For the Marsa team, Martin Llewlyn and Sarfraz Ali were the main wicket takers with three each.

In reply, the Marsa team made the runs in the 28 overs, M.G. Sacco top scoring with 52 runs not out. He was involved in a match-winning partnership of 85 with Justin Brooke who scored 46 runs not out.

Andy Naudi totalled 34 runs.

M. Adcock was the main wicket taker for the visitors with two. Marsa won the first game.

On Saturday, the Marsa team won the toss and elected to bat first. They chalked up a fantastic score of 261 runs from their allotted overs. The first century of the year was scored by Angelo Spiteri who made 101 runs, including 11 fours and a six.

Sacco again was scoring runs, making 59 runs not out. Frank Spiteri scored 31 and Ronnie Sacco 26. For Sydenhurst, S. Keir and D. Powell were the main wicket takers with two each.

In reply, the visitors put up a strong challenge and totalled 222 runs falling short of their target by 39 runs.

D. Pennel, who top-scored with 49 runs, A. Foster 45 runs not out and D. Coles 28 runs, were the main contributors for Sydenhurst. For Marsa, Ronnie Sacco was the main wicket taker with three. Marsa claimed the second game.

On Sunday, Marsa won the toss and chose to field first. It was a day characterised by strong winds and rain showers which had the players coming off the field several times during the day.

Sydenhurst posted 220 runs from their allotted overs with D. Pennel, 56 runs not out, J. Hamilton 45, Boxall, 33, being the main run makers.

For Marsa, Nadeem Ashraf and Angelo Spiteri were the main wicket takers with two each. The Marsa team made the runs with eight balls remaining in a tight finish.

Frank Spiteri scored the second century of the year making 101 runs not out. Mike Caruana scored 43 runs not out and Javed Shah 32 runs. Marsa completed a 3-0 win.

This weekend, Marsa take on newcomers Rotherwick from the UK in a two-game series.

On Saturday, the academy/ nursery will be from 9.30 till 11.30 a.m.
