A husband and wife - Robert and Pauline Cilia - were today jailed for six years and fined €23,000 each for trafficking ecstasy and cocaine.

The two were arrested as they drove to Naxxar on May 25, 2008 in order to sell the drugs. Their car was stopped and the police found a bag containing 1,000 ecstasy pills inside.

At their home in Qrendi the police found another 38 ecstasy pills and some cocaine.

The two pleaded guilty and were jailed and fined after a plea bargaining agreement.
