Independent MP Marlene Farrugia voted with the Opposition again tonight as she claimed it was her duty to do so to fulfill an electoral commitment outlined in the electoral manifesto.

Nationalist MP Ryan Callus put forward a proposal to amend the provisions in the Development Planning Bill with regards the Parliamentary Environment and Planning Committee.

Quoting from the administration’s electoral manifesto promising the committee “on the model of the Public Accounts Committee”, Mr Callus proposed that the committee be composed of seven members, where the majority represented Government but chaired by an Opposition representative.

He also proposed that the committee debates projects and matters considered of national importance.

The government reiterated its opposition to the proposal.
