Independent MP Marlene Farrugia has denied claims that in coalition talks with the Nationalist Party, she is demanding co-option to parliament if she fails to be elected.

The claims were made on the Labour media and It-Torċa.

Dr Farrugia said that had she wanted a guaranteed seat in parliament, she would have stayed with the 'Panamagang' and would have been elected straight away, 'like a rocket'.

She said she wanted the truth to prevail.

Her Partit Demokratiku has agreed to contest the upcoming general election under the Nationalist Party banner on ballot papers, but its candidates will distinguish themselves as pertaining to the 'Orange Party'.

It comes a day after the PN said that talks with the PD were at an advanced stage and the two discussed policies of common interest. These included a sustainable economy, social justice, environment and the renewal of the constitution, under an umbrella of fighting corruption.
