Water leaking out of the Mediterraneo marine park in Baħar iċ-Ċagħaq onto the road and into the sea should completely stop over the weekend.

Readers contacted Times of Malta to complain about what they said were hundreds of litres of water coming out of the marine park and turning the area into a murky inconvenience, especially for passers-by and bathers. They also complained that the water was causing a stench and attracting mosquitoes.

Patrick Vella, on behalf of the park’s management, said work was already in hand to plug the leak from the tanks and every effort was being made for the urgent repairs to be concluded as soon as possible.

“I acknowledge that this caused an inconvenience and we are sorry about it but it was an accident which we couldn’t do anything immediate about,” he said.
