The results of research work carried out by Maltese marine biologists will be presented at the 38th congress of the Mediterranean Science Commission, CIESM, in Istanbul, which starts on Monday.
Spread over five days, the congress - one of Europe's most important marine science conferences - will be attended by 750 marine scientists from around the world.
Discussions will focus on the most important issues facing the Mediterranean and the Black Sea.
CIESM is one of the oldest intergovernmental marine science organisations in the world and its main purpose is to promote international research on the Mediterranean Sea.
Maltese researchers from the Marine Ecology Research Group of the Department of Biology of the University of Malta, led by Patrick J. Schembri, and from the Malta Centre for Fisheries Sciences, together with collaborators from foreign universities, will present the results of their studies.
