On the day of lawyer Margaret Mifsud's death, her former boyfriend Nizar El Gadi returned to his hotel at 3.30am and left again at 6.30am which are unusual times, a magistrate heard today.

Ezaaden Farhad, a Libyan who used to work as a receptionist at the Euro Star Hotel in Paceville where the accused used to live, said these were not his usual times as the client usually arrived at the hotel at 8pm every night and used to go up to his room at 11pm, after spending hours on the computer in the hotel lobby.

He was testifying in the compilation of evidence against Mr El Gadi who stands accused with the murder of his former partner, Dr Mifsud, the mother of his children, on April 19 last year.

Cyber Crime Unit police officer Stefan Decelis also testified today. He said he had examined two computers belonging to Dr Mifsud and one computer belonging to Mr El Gadi. He found thousands of files on all computers but at face value there was nothing he found which could have been linked to the murder.

Magistrate Saviour Demicoli upheld a request by the defence for chat files found on the computers to be examined and the entire chats compiled into one document so that the defence could analyse them.

The case continues.
