The Birthday Of The Infanta is set in Spain, where the celebration of a monarch's birthday was considered a great event. One year, during the infanta's feast, which includes a variety of dances, songs and music, a boy from the forest is brought over as an attraction.

Kwa?imundu's, appearance and actions are different from the rest and the audience finds him thoroughly entertaining for all the wrong reasons. But he is a happy, innocent child full of love for life and he is pleased to make everyone enjoy themselves. So, what happens when the infanta throws him a flower during his show? What happens when Kwa?imundu sees his own image for the first time in a mirror? What does the infanta's reaction turn out to be?

The main objective of this production is educational. It is to allow both adults and children to think about their lives, where beauty is judged by a person's physical appearance and material possessions. In a material world that focuses so much on these aspects, the message of this story is more relevant than ever.

The play is performed by Teatru Qroqq, a theatre group made up of B.Ed. students. Direction by Isabelle Gatt.

Performances for schools are on March 13, 14 and 17. There will be two shows daily at 9.30 and 11.30 a.m. There will also be performances for the public on March 15 at 5 p.m. and March 16 at 7 p.m. at the MITP Centre, in St Christopher Street, Valletta.
