Adds details:

Several areas of Malta were without electricity following failure at Marsa power station this morning but electricity was fully restored by 9.20 a.m.

Enemalta said that at 6.01 a.m., a fault on the 33 kv overhead line between Marsa and Hal Far tripped the Marsa Power Station.

There was enough time to stop the fault from also forcing a shutdown at Delimara, and a nation-wide outage was avoided.

Power was lost in parts of Birkirkara, Qormi, Hamrun, Sta Venera, Mriehel, San Gwann, Paceville, St Julians, Sliema, Gzira, Hal Far, Zurrieq and Qrendi.

At 8.30 a.m. Enemalta said power had been restored to Birkirkara, Mriehel, Qormi, Santa Venera Hamrun, Qrendi, Zurrieq and Hal Far. Power was restored to all areas at 9.20 a.m.

Enemalta regretted the inconvenience caused and thanked the workers for their hard work to restore supply.
