I am writing this letter not to make Muslims love dogs but to remind them that in Malta, like every Western country, dogs are loved and cherished and, because of the love they show you, they are treated like a member of the family raising it.
On one occasion, while I was walking my dog in Sliema, a Muslim youth tried to kick it. Another time, an old lady walking her dog on the pavement gave way to three Muslim ladies with their prams and not even one of them thanked her. A dog walker was threatened by a Muslim man that if he walks his dog again in the street where he lives he will kill the animal.
Muslim residents should not forget that we are hosting them, so, please, respect our culture.
