The Manoel Theatre is opening its doors again after a massive restoraation, with the next production being the pantomime held between December 23 and January 7.
The €1.8 million project was funded through the European Regional Development Fund, and represents the largest capital injection in the last generations in this cultural gem.
Changes include the installation of new parterre boxes, new carpet in galleries and parterre boxes, and a new parquet in the plateau. The platforms in boxes were removed so as to enhance accessibility.
The restoration works undertaken in the past few months will permit the use of a novel acclimatisation and ventilation system, an induction loop system for deaf people, further improvements to the orchestra pit, and new chairs, among other things.
