Manchester City are being investigated by FIFA over the possible illegal transfer of a young Maltese player in 2014.

It is being alleged that Myles Beerman, who joined the club from Floriana, was still 15 years old at the time, and thus below the age threshold for transfer, Gazzetta dello Sport and 90min.com reported.

Should the club be found guilty, the English football giants could face a transfer ban.

FIFA is making inquiries with Floriana and the Malta Football Association as part of its investigations.

Barcelona were handed a one-year transfer ban in 2014 for signing players under the legal transfer age.
