A man who admitted using cannabis in the past was charged with possession of the drug even though it was not found in his possession.

Serb Goran Stoyanovich, 33, pleaded not guilty and was conditionally discharged.

He was charged after his friend, Milos Peric, 29, was found in possession of cocaine and a false passport.

The two men were riding a bike when they were stopped by the police who thought they were going to steal a handbag.

Nine sachets of cocaine were found in Mr Peric’s underpants and another 17 grammes, as well as cannabis grass and a lot of cash, at his house.

A false passport, for which he said he paid €1,100, was also found.

He pleaded not guilty and was remanded in custody.
