A man responsible for the installation of lighting equipment which collapsed and paralysed a woman and injured seven others is expected to be arraigned soon.

A charge was filed in court this morning against Maurice Attard, the person responsible for the Sonlit Ltd, accusing him of badly mounting the structural lighting fixture at the parking next to Ta’ Fra Ben in Qawra on September 14.

The fixture fell on Vladyslava Kravchenko, paralysing her. It also slightly injured another seven people.

Ice-cream thief to be arraigned

A young man who allegedly stole €135 worth of ice-cream, chocolates and beer from the pool area of La Pergola hotel in Mellieħa is expected to be arraigned soon.

Jeff Zerafa, 21, from St Paul’s Bay allegedly carried out the theft on May 1 just after sunset when he allegedly gained access to the hotel’s poolside snack bar and took the food items after causing €300 in damage to break in.
