A man who threatened his sister with a syringe and stole a number of items from his parents' house was today put on probation for three years.

Roderick Tabone, 25 of Zurrieq, admitted to having threatened his sister Magdalein with a syringe he used for drug-taking and then robbed her of cash, jewellery and two digital cameras worth more than €2,300.

He also stole cash from his parents' house.

The case happened on Saturday.

Magistrate Doreen Clarke orderedhis to undergo a drug rehabilitation programme and extended a previous conditional discharge by three years.

In a separate case, Mr Tabone admitted to simple possession of heroin and was placed on probation.
