A 59-year-old man from Ghaxaq is expected to be arraigned shortly after he allegedly stabbed his son-in-law.

The police said a 40-year old man from Ghaxaq went to seek help at the Zejtun police station after being stabbed following an argument in Tarxien Road, Gudja, close to Il-Palazz ta' Bettina.

Police sources said the incident appears to have been sparked off by an argument between the victim and his wife.

The woman, accompanied by her father, went to withdraw some money from a bank yesterday morning and at one point her husband appeared on the scene in his car. An argument ensued. The man ended up with a gash between his left ear and his throat apart from other wounds in the back.

An ambulance took him to hospital where it was found that his condition was serious but not life-threatening.

Police Inspector Joseph Agius is heading investigations.
