A 24-year-old man was critically injured when he was stabbed during an argument in Great Siege Road, Valletta, last night, the police said.

Two men have been arrested as part of investigations.

The police said they were informed by Mater Dei Hospital at about 2 am that  there was an injured person in Great Siege Road.

The man, who is from Marsaxlokk, had been stabbed in the back during an argument.

Two men, both from Valletta, were seen a short distance away. One of them had blood splattered on his face. The police said they were arrested and it resulted that they had been in an argument with the injured man. 

A Magisterial inquiry is under way.
