The police have launched a search for a man who shouted insults at a magistrate in court in Gozo this morning.

The case happened when Magistrate Monica Vella delivered sentence in a civil case.

The man, clearly irked by the court’s findings, rose and fired a tirade of insults against the magistrate, who immediately ordered his arrest.

But since this was a civil case, there were no policemen in the hall and the man was able to get out and leave without hindrance.

Five years ago, a man was stabbed 14 times in a courtroom in Gozo. The aggressor was subsequently jailed for seven years.
