A man has been arrested following the stabbing of a 29-year-old wine bar owner in Sliema.

David Darmanin, who is also a journalist with Malta Today, was grievously injured in the attack in the early hours of this morning in his wine bar in High Street. He was found in a pool of blood in the street and was rushed to hospital where his condition has now stabilised. He is, however, still in a critical condition.

Sources said the attack was not linked to his journalistic work.

The arrested man, from Attard, is due to be arraigned this evening or tomorrow.
