An argument between two men in a Ħamrun basement led to one man in hospital and the other arrested this afternoon.

Ħamrun police summoned to Dun Frans Camilleri street at around 2.15pm found a 42-year-old man lying on the floor, injured. He had allegedly been attacked by a 36-year-old wielding a sharp object.

The two men had been arguing in the basement of an apartment block, police said. The alleged aggressor escaped the scene of the crime but later turned himself in at Qormi police station, where he is being held for questioning.

Both men are Ħamrun residents. The injured man was taken to Mater Dei hospital and is suffering serious, though not life-threatening, injuries.
