A 49-year-old man from Cospicua was yesterday remanded in custody after he was arraigned in connection with a burglary in Mosta last Saturday.

Alfred Attard, who is unemployed, pleaded not guilty to forcing open the front door of a residence in Old Windmill Street, which belongs to an 81-year-old woman.

Police inspectors Mark Mercieca and Nicholas Vella charged Mr Attard with breaking into the residence, the theft of several items, damaging private property, trespassing and handling stolen items.

Mr Attard pleaded not guilty but did not request bail.

Magistrate Neville Camilleri ordered him to be remanded in custody. Lawyer Stephanie Abela appeared for the man.
