A 33-year-old man from Valletta has been remanded in custody after he pleaded not guilty to threatening the his former partner and her mother and relapsing.

Police Inspector Hubert Cini told the court Kenneth Cassar turned up at his former partner's house yesterday evening and took his daughter as he threatened his former partner and her mother with a screw driver.

Since there were no court orders preventing him taking away the four-year-old girl, the police could do anything about it.

An agreement was then reached for him to return the girl to her mother in the presence of the police but, this morning, while the mother was at the police station, Mr Cassar threatened he would kill her.
