A 26-year-old man has been jailed for five months after he was found guilty of punching another motorist in a fit of road rage.

Carl Ciantar was convicted of assaulting Jean Claude Ciantar at around 11.30am on June 10 last year in Paola.

Magistrate Audrey Demicoli heard that an argument started when the victim was attempting to reverse out of his parking space in Triq Ninu Cremona.

The accused was passing by in his van but stopped when he thought he heard the other man insult him. He followed him as they drove off but when they stopped in traffic, he got out of his van and starting punching the other vehicle. He then punched the victim in the face, causing him serious injuries.

The court heard Mr Ciantar was currently following a drug rehabilitation programme.
