A 22-year-old man from Qormi was this morning jailed for two years and fined €1,000 after he pleaded guilty to trafficking a small amount of cocaine within 100 metres of a place frequented by minors.

Clint Zammit, who refused to be represented by a lawyer, also pleaded guilty to possessing cocaine in circumstances which denote it was not for his personal use, possessing cannabis and relapsing.

Police Inspector Jesmond Borg told Magistrate Gabriella Vella that the accused had fully cooperated with the police, he immediately admitted his crime and although he was a relapser, he did not think his crime merited a severe punishment.
