A man from Naxxar was this morning jailed for two years after he was found guilty of stealing €6,744 worth of diving equipment from Mataqua in St Paul's Bay.

Mr Buttigieg had told the police that he bought the equipment, found in his car,from someone who needed money to buy drugs. He insisted he made sure the equipment was not stolen.

He was also found guilty of driving a car without a licence, and relapsing.

Magistrate Giovanni Grixti also suspended his driving licence for a year.
