Angelo Fenech, of Marsascala, has been jailed for eight-and-a-half years and fined €23,000 after the police found 27 blocks of cannabis resin in a field in Marsascala.

Fenech pleaded guilty to the charges instead of undergoing trial by jury.

Before handing down sentence, the court heard evidence by police Superintendent Norbert Ciappara. The court also ordered that because of the sensitivity of the evidence and further police investigations, the evidence will be sealed.
