Grazzio Calleja, 40 of Tarxien was this morning jailed for two years after admitting to stealing objects worth more than €2,300 as well as €7,000 in cash from a house in Tarxien. He also admitted relapsing, possessing and trafficking heroin.

Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera in passing judgement observed that the accused had, between 1992 and 2001, been convicted of five other cases involving theft, drug possession, trafficking and tax evasion where he had been imprisoned, given suspended jail sentences and fined.
