A man was this morning jailed 15 years and fined €5,356.21 after he admitted to the attempted murder of the owner of Seven Mobiles in Psaila Street, a shop where he committed a hold-up in April 2009.

Jonathan Coleiro had pointed a gun at shop owner Charles Zammit, held him against his will and forced him into another room.

While in this room, Mr Coleiro, still armed, stole a number of items and then escaped.

When he escaped, Mr Zammit ran after Mr Coleiro, but the latter shot in Mr Zammit's direction five times.

Mr Coleiro was also found guilty of attempted murder, theft, using a firearm and relapsing.
