One man was injured and another two were arrested following a traffic accident in Blata l-Bajda this afternoon.

People on the scene said that the incident happened at about 4.45 p.m. close to the flyover at December 13 Road.

Three migrants were crossing the road when one of them was hit by a taxi as it was being driven from Marsa towards Blata l-Bajda.

As assistance was being given to the injured man, the other two men reportedly assaulted the taxi driver and another man who had been driving behind and had called an ambulance.

An off-duty policeman and a soldier stopped to break-up the fight and render assistance and the two migrants were later arrested by the police.

The injured man was hospitalised.

The taxi, a BMW, had a broken windscreen.
