A 48-year-old man was grievously injured in a gas explosion at a residence in Paola on Sunday.

The police said the explosion was in Triq Nazzarenu at 9pm.

Members of the Civil Protection Department and the police went on site and the victim, who is from Paola, was taken to hospital by ambulance.

The police are investigating.

Just last week, a man died when a gas heater in his Msida apartment caught fire.
