A 48-year-old man from Valletta was injured by mggers who approached him near his house and requested money at around 8 p.m. yesterday.

The man personally reported the incident at the Valletta police station at around 9.30 p.m. as soon as he returned from the Floriana Health Centre, where he was certified to be suffering from non-grievous injuries.

He said that he was in front of his house in Strait Street when he was approached by two people. One asked him for money, and as he (the thief) pocketed his (the victim's) wallet, which contained around €25 and a mobile phone, he (the thief) took out a knife.

The victim told the police he was injured when he tried to take the knife away from the aggressor.
