A Marsa open centre resident was remanded in custody after he pleaded not guilty to hitting another Somalian with a stone in his face.

The victim who suffered grievous injuries required several of stitches on his forehead, the court heard.

The incident happened on July 13 at a Marsa playground.

Abdiaziz Anis Abdulahi, who was also accused of relapsing and breaching bail conditions imposed by another court earlier this year, pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Josette Demicoli. 

Lawyer Joe Ellis was legal aid while police inspector Robert Said Sarreo prosecuted.
