A man who assaulted three policemen while drunk, has been sentenced to 10 months imprisonment and fined 5,000 euro.
Michael Farrugia, 66, was also convicted of disturbing the peace, disobeying police orders and being vulgar in public.
The case happened at the PN club in Mqabba in March last year.
The court heard how the man threatened policemen, even telling them he would behead them and kill their wives and children.
He denied the charges, saying he was beaten by the police.
The court, however, discounted his version of events. It was also noted that he had been involved in a similar case two years previously.
The Police Officers' Union welcomed the court's decision, describing it as 'excellent'.
