A 29-year-old man was today conditionally discharged for three years after he broke the nose of his former partner's new boyfriend with a truncheon.

Ludwig Cassar, 29, from Ibrag, admitted to attacking Daniel Cassar on Monday evening.

He had gone to his former partner’s house in Ġzira and found her with her new boyfriend.

Mr Cassar also admitted in court to threatening Mellisa Bellante and being in illegal possession of a telescopic truncheon.

Magistrate Antonio Micallef Trigona ordered him not approach the victim or his former partner and fined him €50 for the illegal possession of the weapon.
