A man has been arrested on suspicion of involvement in a series of thefts from petrol stations.

The arrest was made at about 3am at a filling station in Bir id-Deheb when officers of the Rapid Intervention Unit saw the man acting suspiciously.

The 41-year-old from Ħamrun was found in possession of a balaclava and screwdriver, among other items.

The police suspect he may have been involved in thefts from filling stations in Għargħur, Gżira and Żejtun.
