A man who went on a roof across the road from his former girlfriend's bedroom in an attempt to catch her attention today pleaded guilty in court to resisting the police who tried to arrest him when he refused to move off.

John Daniel Whitney, 24, a musician who was born in Malawi but is resident in Malta, admitted to resisting a policeman, assaulting him and disobeying police orders during the incident, which took place yesterday afternoon in St Julian's.

Magistrate Joseph Apap Bologna noted that the accused had fully cooperated with the police, made an early guilty plea and had a clean police record. He therefore placed him under probation for a year and warned him to think before he acts.
