A man in Japan has been found buried under his six-tonne collection of pornographic magazines.

The 50-year-old's body was only discovered six months after his death, according to reports. His body was discovered by his landlord, who went to check on his tenant after he fell behind on his rent payments.

It is not clear if he died when the collection fell on him, or if he had a heart attack and subsequently fell into the magazines.

A cleaner hired to clear the apartment said that every nook and cranny had been filled with X-rated magazines, with the man having also kept clippings of his favourite articles laying around.

Six tonnes is about four-fifths the weight of an adult African elephant, or around three-and-a-half times the weight of an average car.

Every nook and cranny was filled with the magazines.
