A police sergeant was slightly injured yesterday when the driver of a car with an expired licence drove over his foot in a bid to escape. The incident happened at 10pm in Regional Road, St Julian’s.

The man, who was driving a Tata, was signalled to stop in Triq Sant’ Andrija, St Julian’s, but he drove on. The police officer rode his motorbike behind the car and managed to stop the driver in Regional Road. However, the driver escaped driving over the officer’s foot.

The man was arrested in the Corradino area at 8.15am today.
