A 33-year-old man has pleaded not guilty to causing slight injuries to his wife during an argument over custody of their children.

The man, who cannot be named by court order to protect the identities of his three children, pleaded not guilty to slightly injuring his wife yesterday at Birzebbuga.

The Magistrates’ Court heard how the man had gone to see his children, who currently reside with their mother, and an argument broke out between the couple.

Defence lawyer David Gatt told the court that there are no court restrictions on the man regarding custody of the children and it was not illegal for him to go and see them.

Police Inspector Priscilla Caruana told the court that the man had been annoying his wife quite regularly by sending her SMSs and had even entered their home through a downstairs window to see his children.
