An appeal against a six-year jail term received by Giosue Gauci last year for the attempted murder of Ronald Azzopardi in 2005 has been refused.

Mr Gauci, who had been found guilty with six votes against three, pleaded in his appeal that he never wanted to kill Mr Azzopardi.

However, the court upheld the conclusions of the original court arguing there must have been some intent as a semi-automatic pistol had a safety catch that had to be released, and as a second shot had been fired.
