A man whose fingerprint was found on a cupboard in a garage in Sliema was cleared of stealing over €2,500 worth of tools and equipment from this and another garage as no sufficient evidence linked him to the crimes.

Malcolm Mifsud, 25, was accused of stealing the equipment from Dina Garage in Sliema and MSG Garage in St Julians in 2005.

Some of the equipment stolen from MSG Garage was found in Dina Garage, from where Mr Mifsud’s fingerprints were lifted.

Garage owner Charles Grech told the court that Mr Mifsud was often at the garage, which was also a petrol station, to borrow tools. He also bought petrol from there regularly.
