A man this morning filed a judicial protest against the Prime Minister and the permanent secretary in the Rural Affairs Ministry, claiming unfair dismissal.
Bernard Busutill’s protest was also filed against the Public Service Commission, the head of the paying agency in the same ministry and the director (resourcing) at the Management and Personnel Office.
Mr Busuttil claimed that the Prime Minister had, in June 2009, approved a Public Service Commission recommendation for his appointment as an EU Fund manager in the public service for 36 months. He was then deployed at the Resources Ministry.
But the following September the Prime Minister approved a PSC recommendation to terminate his control following a letter from the permanent secretary.
Mr Busuttil said he had had no idea that steps against him were being taken and he had not been accused of anything. No shortcomings had been attributed to him and he requested an explanation.
He said that a number of shortcomings he had not been informed about were then listed in a letter dated November 8, 2010.
