Max Ciantar, the driver who allegedly hit twin sisters in a hit and run accident in Attard a year ago, ended up in prison again last week after his father refused to guarantee his bail.

Mr Ciantar was in July last year granted €1,000 in compensation after a court found that his human rights were breached when a court granted him bail but ordered him to stay at Mt Carmel Hospital.

He had had to pay €3,000 for his bail and a personal guarantee of €10,000.

The court found, however, that the father's application not to continue to be guarantor was incorrectly worded and the deposit money is therefore still being retained by the courts until the father files a second application.
