A 37-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a police officer in Northern Ireland, police said on Tuesday.

A 17-year-old youth had already been charged in connection with the killing of Stephen Carroll on March 9.

The Continuity IRA, which seeks a united Ireland and the removal of British influence from the province, has said it shot Carroll.
