A man caught with 38.5 grammes of cannabis resin in Paceville yesterday told a court that the drug was intended for his personal use.

Somali Mohammed Hussein Abdi, 26, who resides at the Marsa Open Centre, admitted to possessing the drug for personal use but denied charges that it was intended for trafficking.

Legal aid lawyer Martin Fenech objected to the charge that the offence was committed with 100 metres of a place where young people habitually meet.
He argued that if the police were doing their job, no such youths would be found in Paceville.

Magistrate Francesco Depasquale denied bail. Inspector Gabriel Micallef prosecuted.
