Two brothers aged 18 and 19 were today remanded in custody after having been accused of assaulting a 60-year-old man who repeatedly asked them to turn music down at night.

The assault allegedly happened last Sunday night when the man asked the siblings, Richard and Carlo Muscat, to turn down the music at their grandmother's flat in St Julians.

The youths are accused of having reacted by breaking down the door of the man's flat and assaulting him, causing him slight injuries.

The accused told Magistrate Claire Stafrace Zammit that if they were granted bail, they could move in to their uncle's house. However attempts by their lawyer to contact their uncle proved futile, and the Magistrate therefore remanded them custody.
