A 21-year-old man was given a one-year jail term suspended for two years for stealing two mobile phones from the University Residence in Balzan yesterday.

Nahel Hicham Medjdah, who was born in France and lives in Balzan, pleaded guilty to stealing the phones at about 1am.

Magistrate Claire Stafrace Zammit noted that the mobile phones were returned.

Police Inspector Luke Bonello prosecuted.

Lawyer Martin Fenech represented the accused.
